Jerry used to work on Cres Island on a Griffon Vulture (Gyps fulvus) project.
He was monitoring the nests located on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic Sea. By observing the behaviour of these beautiful birds, the team of biologists understood better the needs of this species and then had better tools for protecting it.
Currently, the vultures in Europe are increasing in number but are still endangered especially by poisoning and electrocution on high voltage lines.
Let’s remember that these animals are very important for the balance of the ecosystem as they prevent viruses and diseases spreading by eating carcasses.
